This year's Longman Movie Morning for SBA was held at the Grand Ocean Theatre in Tsim Sha Tsui on 18th November. The seminar began with an exclusive screening of Oliver Stone's Alexander, after which our speaker, Mr Gary Harfitt, provided a movie commentary and took questions from the floor.
Movie commentary and sharing session Mr Harfitt talked about exploiting non-print non-fiction texts for SBA. He also discussed how to compare book and film versions of a text and how to use film reviews to promote classroom discussion. He concluded by examining how narrative devices were used in Alexander, in particular the role of the narrator. He also suggested options for extended projects to complement the SBA tasks.
