Seminar analysing the 2007 HKCEE English papers

The 2007 HKCEE English examinations attracted a lot of interest as over 500 teachers came to listen to our analysis of the HKCEE English papers on 2nd June 2007. Held at the Langham Hotel Hong Kong, the seminar, which was attended by a full house, featured speakers Chris Gray and Andrew Mitchell, both of whom have a vast amount of experience in the local ELT industry.

Chris talked about Paper 1A (Reading) and Paper 1B (Writing), and Andrew spoke about Paper 2 (Listening and Integrated Skills) and Paper 3 (Speaking). Both speakers shared insightful analyses of the 2007 examination and practice papers, and made comparisons with the samples in the 2005 Examination Syllabus.

Also introduced that morning was the new Longman HKCEE Support Pack for teachers which will be provided to all users of the Focus on Skills, Longman Target English and Longman Express 4A–5, and Complete Exam Practice for Certificate English series.

About the speakers

Chris Gray
Chris is the series consultant for the Focus on Skills series and is one of the authors of the Paper 1 Books. She currently teaches English for academic purposes at the University of Hong Kong.

Andrew Mitchell
Andrew is an experienced ELT editor and publisher, and is now an ELT Consultant for Longman Hong Kong Education.
